turn on Refrigerator at home...?

We’re leaving on our 1st trip tomorrow!!!! :B
I want to turn the refrigerator on tonight to get it cold.
I thought it would be easy but truth is, I JUST DON’T KNOW HOW!!!!
I thought I could just unplug it from the outlet IN the trailer and use an extension cord to plug it into the house. Is that it?
Ummm…… Now what? :h
It started getting really hot back there. I don’t know if it should. Too afraid of waking up to a fire. :Z
Do I need to flip a switch or anything?
What are the steps for turning it on? I can’t figure it out from the manuals. :?

RE: What am I forgetting?

Notebook for your next shopping list!!
That way when someone says, "We need______" or "we should of packed _____"
You won't forget as soon as you pull in the driveway. Must be some kinda camping amnesia.

RE: Kid Safety

Depends!
Ds-10 has over 20 bumps and scrapes including a prize bruise on his arm from a golf club swung a little too close.
Ds-13 is suffering from an extreme case of poison-ivy, covering his arms, legs, face, and… um… other areas!
All this within calling distance from my front door.
They would be much safer glued to the t.v. like so many kids their age. As a kind hearted man told my son on his way to the ER for stitches one day: “scars build character!
Don’t get me wrong. Protect them, love ‘em, teach ‘em.
If they get scraped up, it’s because they a living life, not watching it go by…

RE: "Green" camping ideas..............

About a year ago, I bought a 50 pack of plastic plates at Costco.
They look like FINE CHINA!!!
They take up little room and are nice to have in the camper for extra guests or whatever. The plates are disposable, but why dispose?
They’re too nice to throw away.
Paper or foam plates can’t be reused, because food seeps into the pores.
Not these. Love ‘em.

RE: "Green" camping ideas..............

I was just looking at the Coleman water bag yesterday. It was only about $20.00.
Much cheaper than the instant hot water machines; however, the water cools when the sun goes down so best to clean up by late afternoon. Instant works whenever.
I’m going to do the gallon jugs - the cheapest and reusable instead of buying more “stuff” :C
Thanks to everyone for their tips.
I think I’m a very “green” person, but I can always use more (easy to use) tips.

RE: Sheets

$9.99 - 19.99 @ Target
T-shirt cotton sheets. ssooooooooo comfy/soft.
The elastic on the fitted sheet wraps all the way around so they CANNOT come off. No matter the length/width/thickness, they FIT.
To each their own but we love these sheets. We use 'em in the PuP and at home.

RE: Not Having Fun Anymore?

For several decades, my grandmother had the joy of RVing.
First with a truck trailer, then later with a travel trailer.
During the last several years, she and her traveling partner kept their trailer in a beautiful mountain resort.
They could call ahead and have the trailer in their space when they arrived by car.
Being regulars, and loved by all that knew them, people would come out to greet them and help set up and plug in.
By their late 80’s, they came to a point in their lives where driving up the mountain become too dangerous.
They sold the trailer for almost the same price they bought it for a decade earlier!
That season was behind them.
I have several dozen photo albums from destinations around our beautiful countries - inluding a couple albums with my children enjoying nature with their great-grandmother.
She past away last month at the age of 90.
It has been incredibly difficult for me to let her go.
Those albums, showing so many genuine smiles in front of her campers, have kept her alive in my heart.
My husband and I had been planning to purchase our 1st trailer for awhile, but something always took higher priority.
We finally took the time and bought our first PoP-uP in tribute to this amazing woman.
A new season in my family’s life begins as Gramma reaches her final destination.
We are taking our first trip Memorial Day weekend to Collier-Seminole in SW Florida.
It will be a bitter sweet trip.
It will also be the kick-off to decades of adventures around our beautiful country and the beginning of our albums filled with genuine smiles.
Looking forward to meeting you all out there…

RE: Now I've heard it all!

I thought I was being thoughtful by using my I-pod for my music.
I can turn the ear buds up as loud as I like.
Come to find out the I-pod is more disturbing.
Before I was drowned out by the music - Now all they here is me singing. :S

RE: How do you keep pests from entering your trailer?

I have an electric bug zapper. If there are flying pests in the PuP I can use it as a dim light and zap the bugs.
The smell of citronella bugs me as well as the bugs. Sorry bad pun.
More as a way to get rid of them than avoid them.

50 amp park - 30 amp PuP

I’m a quick learner, but first, I have to know what to learn…
The site for my 1st trip is marked as a 50 amp site.
My PuP has a 30 amp plug and cord standard.
I was told we could hook up to either by someone. Now I’m beginning to wonder what that means. :h
Will this be a problem? Will I need a 50 amp converter? What else do I need to know? Do I have to change sites?
(Some sites mention both 30 and 50 amp – This one only mentions 50 and the park is full)
I looked through the forum for the answer before posting. I am so new at this that most of the terminology is over my head!!! :?
Please, in very simple terms, help me out here…
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

RE: Explore or not explore....

Just a thought. but first ----
I'm am also thinking a few years down the line I will want to go bigger and better. DH has the Lexus that is fantastic on gas mileage but very low tow capacity. We are not ready to buy a new vehicle at this time so we have the small pop-up. ANYWAY...
Instead of a bigger gas guzzler today (that you have to buy gas for all year)for a toy you won't have for a couple years, why not lease?
2 years from now you will have a better idea of what's right for you.
Personnally, I don't like leasing. Sometimes, though, it a better choice.
